The first month of the Free School Meals pilot has been a great success. On average, children in Years 3-6 are ordering almost 50 more meals each day, and we are seeing many more empty plates and happy faces. Here is the link to the menu for the Spring Term. As always, there are plenty of delicious options to choose from: https://www.westfieldprimary.co.uk/sites/default/files/uploads/media/files/spring-menu-2024.pdf

There has been a lot of interest the pilot and, in recent weeks, we have welcomed reporters from Look North, YO1 Radio, The Press, The Local Link and Greatest Hits Radio to see the meal service in action and speak with staff, parents and children. The children certainly put their oracy skills to great use and were incredibly articulate and confident speaking on camera.

As a reminder, under this pilot, all children in Years 3-6 are entitled to a free school meal. There is no need to pre-order. Children just need to let their class teacher know what they would like for lunch each day. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 continue to benefit from Universal Free School Meals.

The evaluation of the pilot is ongoing and parental feedback is an important aspect of this. Please do share your thoughts with us.
