Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3 & Year 4)

Knowledge Organisers - Year 3 & 4 2025-2026

Welcome to Lower Key Stage 2 (LKS2). LKS2 is made up of year 3 and year 4. There are 4 classes in this phase.

Welcome to Lower Key Stage Two - Year 3 and 4.

We currently have four classes within Lower Key Stage Two: in Year 3, we have Mr McEvoy and Mr Lowman. In Year 4, we have Mrs Hyatt and Ms Powell.

We work hard to make our curriculum relevant and enjoyable and we strive for the children to be curious, ambitious, confident, knowledgeable, inspired and articulate learners.

Our topics this year cover the following Big Questions:

‘Back to the Stone Age - Could I have survived in the Stone Age?’

‘Tremors and Terrors - What Makes the Earth Angry?’

‘Rotten Romans - Were the Romans Remarkable or Rotten?’

‘Locating the Maya - What made the Maya Magnificent?’

‘Healthy Body Healthy Mind - How do I keep myself healthy?’

The main way we will communicate about our learning is through Marvellous Me. Please look out for updates about learning, how to support your children as well as celebrations of learning.

Your support is so important in helping children to make progress during their time with us. We continue to promote reading for pleasure amongst our children, and they will all have a reading folder containing their reading book and a reading record that should be filled out at least 3 times per week. Children can also access Reading Plus at home and should all know how to log on.

Children will receive weekly spellings, and we ask that the children learn them in any way that is useful to them. We will carry out a weekly check. Some children will be given different spellings to learn if that is more appropriate for them.

Children will complete the national Multiplication Check at the end of year 4 and we really want to encourage them to do well. We continue to encourage the use of Timetable Rockstars to help them practice their instant recall.

We also use a Platform called Learning by Questions and we will set your children work to do at home and at school on it.

Lower Key Stage 2 comes together once a week in our Celebration Assembly to celebrate all learning and achievements – it really is a lovely part of the week!
