Apprentice Site Operative

Grade: CYC Apprentice Wage - £6.15 per hour for first 12 months rising to £7.70 (£8.21 if aged 25+)

Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon - Fri)

Contract: One year fixed term contract

Westfield Primary Community School is seeking to recruit a Facilities Services Operative to work with our existing Site Manager to ensure that the buildings and grounds are in proper working order and maintaining a safe working environment for all users of our facilities.

You will need to be a practical and positive person with a strong willingness to learn through on the job practical training on a busy school site, in addition to formal training courses. 

You will need to enjoy working both inside and out in all areas of repairs and maintenance, and be interested in studying key aspects of site management including:

  • Fire safety management
  • Site deliveries
  • Minor repairs
  • Ensuring high levels of cleanliness and security

You will need to be a good communicator and enjoy accurate record keeping.

Due to the eligibility criteria for this apprenticeship, we can only accept applications from those who do not already hold qualifications at the same or a higher level in this area of work.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship in England, you must have been resident in the UK or an EEA country for at least three years, and hold the right to work.

Year 5 Teacher - Maternity Cover

Grade: Teachers Main Scale Pay (£23,720 to £35,008 per annum)

Hours: 30 hours per week

Contract: Temporary Contract

Westfield Primary Community School are looking to appoint a teacher on a temporary contract initially, from 1 September 2019 until 21 February 2020 to cover a maternity leave of absence.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and committed teacher to join our Year 5 team within our busy school. Westfield is a successful school, rated “Good” by Ofsted. You will be working as part of a dedicated and motivated team, committed to ensuring that every child matters within an inclusive and supportive school ethos.

Grounds Handy Person & Site Security

Grade: 4 Level 1-4 (£18, 360 to £19,477 per annum) reduced pro-rata

Hours: 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri.  Split shifts and a degree of flexibility over working hours will be features of this role.

Contract: Temporary Contract

Westfield Primary Community School are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and able person to assist with general/grounds maintenance and site security (including key holder responsibilities) under the direction of the Site Manager.

General duties will include but are not restricted to:

  • To unlock/lock gates/school each morning/evening. Carry out security checks to the buildings and grounds. Unlocking and securing buildings which may include room hire for non-school activities outside of normal school hours
  • Assist with the security of the school site and buildings; includes accepting deliveries and checking off receipt of goods
  • Maintain the school grounds/pathways and wildlife area
  • Mark out playgrounds, game areas and car park as necessary
  • Ensure all relevant equipment is well-maintained and assist with minor repairs and report faults requiring specialist help, e.g. electrical contactors
  • Additional irregular duties; help set up for school events e.g. Sports Day, daytime concerts etc. Deal with any emergencies – floods, accidental damage or sickness etc.

Provide relief support cover in the event of the Site Manager’s absence.
