Welcome back to Spring 2. The sunshine has returned and the children have had a brilliant week of learning following their half term break.
Across school, Immersion Days have engaged and excited the children as they have dived into their new topics.
Our Early Years children have absolutely loved learning all about Space. They have explored planets, stars and rockets through fun, hands-on activities and imaginative play. Westie has even been on a very special adventure to the moon, sparking lots of excitement and curiosity about what lies beyond planet Earth!
Meanwhile in Year 1 and 2, the children have been eager to get back into their topic about the Great Fire of London. During their Immersion Day the children engaged in creative activities to ‘fire’ their imagination such as making these beautiful lanterns. They also colour mixed poster paints and created some writing from the perspective of a London shop owner in 1666.
As part of Year 3 and 4’s big question, ‘Were the Romans Remarkable or Rotten?’ the children designed and built their own aqueducts using cardboard, paper folds and masking tape. Through this hands-on challenge, they discovered just how ingenious Roman engineering was. It wasn’t easy, but their resilience shone through every leak and tumble.
Year 5 and 6 set sail on their new Viking topic by working together to construct their own Viking longships. This challenge was more than just craft; it needed teamwork and resilience which the children showed brilliantly proving they can weather any storm! It has been great to hear some of the children talking about visiting the Viking Festival in York over the half term too.
Attendance across school has seen a big improvement this week. Thank you to our families for the continued efforts to ensure children are in school and arriving on time. Being here every day means the children can make the most of the learning and experiences planned for them.
