We are so proud to announce that, following our assessment this week, we have been officially awarded the OPAL Platinum Award.
For the past two years, our school has been on an incredible journey with the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) primary programme. Reaching this milestone is no small feat—only 2% of schools across the country achieve Platinum status.
Since starting our OPAL journey, the transformation in our playtimes has been nothing short of incredible. We’ve seen:
Huge Smiles: a massive boost in children’s overall happiness and wellbeing.
Creative Play: from mud kitchens, epic den building and tree climbing to scooters, role play, musical instruments, competitive sports and everything in between, our children are more engaged than ever.
Resilience & Teamwork: Our playground has become a hive of problem-solving and friendship.
Inclusion for All: Playtimes now offer something for every child, regardless of their interests or abilities.
Readiness to Learn: The children are returning to the classroom energised, happy and ready to learn after high-quality, active breaks.
An achievement this big belongs to our whole school community so we are planning a special celebration for our children, families, and staff to come together and share in this success. We’ll keep you posted with more details very soon!

They have embraced the mud, sourced items from the most unlikely of places and approached the changes with complete commitment to improving playtimes for every child.
