It’s certainly been a busy week at Westfield! The children have continued to settle into their new routines and have enjoyed the beginnings of their new topics. Attendance has been excellent – thank you for encouraging this.

Have a lovely weekend

Weekly Roundup:

🌿In Nursery and Reception, the children have been settling into their new rooms. They have been exploring the environment and learning to share with their new friends. The staff have been blown away with how well the children have transitioned into school. Have a look at the reel of our beautiful new spaces below.

🐷Year 1 have been working hard on reading and retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children pretended to be characters from the story. They especially loved using their mean faces whilst being the wolf to scare away the pigs! A great start in Year 1.

🏡Year 2 have been working hard on counting accurately and partitioning numbers to 100. In RE, they created their own special symbols to represent what is important to them at home. A wonderful start to the new school year!

🍎We’ve been back in time to the Stone Age in Year 3. The children used their hunting and gathering skills to collect inspiring objects, helping them to design their own prehistoric necklaces.

🎨Year 4 have also thrown themselves into exploring the Stone Age. The children crafted their own Stone Age jewellery using clay. They’ll proudly wear their creations for the big finish in the final week before half term.

🗺Year 5 developed their atlas skills, confidently tracking down Antarctica and the countries and oceans around it. They have cracked latitude and longitude, using coordinates to pin down locations across the world — right down to the South Pole!

🎨Year 6 were raring to start their new topic 'To the Ends of the Earth'. Taking inspiration from artist Francis Hatch, the children transformed ordinary objects into maps of Antarctica. It was a fantastic way to explore geography and art at the same time.
