Another busy couple of weeks at Westfield. A few of the highlights below:
Nursery and Reception have loved getting to know each other through their ‘All About Me’ topic. The children have shared stories, ideas, and fun learning activities to celebrate what makes them unique.
Year 1 and 2 enjoyed visiting the nature area as part of their topic ‘Into the Woods’. The children explored the different coloured leaves and talked about the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees. They were so excited to spot and name what they found. Nature detectives in action!
What would you have ordered for your tea tonight if Deliveroo had existed in the Stone Age? Year 3 have been finding out all about palaeolithic and neolithic diets in history this week. The Mammoth burger sounds delicious!
We are so proud of Year 4 after a brilliant start to their swimming lessons. The progress the children have made in just a few lessons is really impressive. Watching their confidence grow has been a highlight of the term so far.
Year 5 and 6 have enjoyed a fantastic Zoom session with Al Sylvester who carried out an expedition to Antarctica. The children were all hooked on his story of the difficulties he faced and it was great making links to Shackleton's expedition too. The children asked some brilliant questions which helped them to embed their learning.
Year 6 children have been diving into the world of typography, exploring the artistry and design behind beautiful lettering. Inspired by the work of Louise Fili, they’ve created their own stunning designs, learning how typography can tell a story and make a statement.
