We've had a brilliant start to the summer term. The children have thrown themselves into their new topics and have certainly made the most of the warmer weather at playtimes.
In the last couple of weeks, our Early Years children have loved exploring their new topic of Plants and Minibeasts. They kicked things off by looking at the insides of plants, learnt the names of the different parts, and got creative with some fantastic observational drawings.
In Key Stage 1, the children enjoyed a busy Immersion Day to begin their topic ‘Ahoy there Matey!’ After enjoying their lunch outside, they learnt about and make their very own lighthouses. This term's topic will look at geographical features as well as maps and orienteering.
Years 3 and 4 started their "What Makes Your Garden Grow?" topic with a classroom carousel. They worked with different teachers to create a garden scene, across five large canvases, using a range of art techniques. The children produced delicate botanical watercolour paintings of flowers and made pastel-shaded powder paint insects. It was lovely working together as a whole Y3/4 team to create these green-fingered works of art.
Year 5's half term’s topic is all about ‘Our Green Planet’ and the children focused on how recycled card could be used to create works of art. The highlight of their Immersion Day was creating unique and imaginative animals entirely out of recycled cardboard - we think they did a wonderful job! 
Our Year 6 children have thrown themselves into their revision sessions working brilliantly to support each other. They have enjoyed their dance lessons and are already desperately trying to guess what their summer show will be - it's under tight wrap for another couple of weeks but we can't wait to get going with it. Thank you to everyone who supported the Y6's ice cream stall tonight. It was great to see it so busy.
