Sports Premium

The Government announced that from September 2013 schools will receive an additional £8,000 (plus £5 per pupil between the ages of 5-11 years old) to improve the quality of sport and PE for all their children. From October 2017 the government announced an increase in funding to £16,000 per pupil (plus £10 per pupil between the ages of 5-11 years old).

We initially decided to invest the majority of our funding in developing participation in school sport and in the professional development of teachers at our school so they are best equipped to teach high quality Physical Education and school sport for years to come.

From September 2017, the decision has been taken to invest the majority of the funding in private swimming lessons at Energise (http://www.energiseyork.com/swimming/) in order to provide all our children the opportunity to learn this critical life skill in small groups. The funding has allowed us to offer all our children access to either free or heavily discounted private swimming lessons.

In addition to this we will continue to use part of the funding to pay for:

- New equipment to engage and excite our children;

- CPD opportunities;

- Enrichment activities during National Sports Week (https://www.youthsporttrust.org/national-school-sport-week)

For a breakdown of exactly how the Sports Premium will be spent, please see the attached finance report (figures correct November 2017)
